You might think Canberra is a world away when it comes to your loved ones but it is really just down the road.
Canberra Aged Care Facility in Lyneham has been privately owned and operated by the one family for over 30 years. Lyneham is a quiet, leafy area on the northern side of the city and very accessible from the Barton or Federal Highways.
“We are nearing the end of renovations and extensions that see our home right up there in design, comfort and liveability. Canberra Aged Care has the capacity to care for a wide range of care needs which include both high and low care wings,” Director Clayton Hutchinson said.
“While we have, for many years, cared exclusively for residents living with dementia, our renovations and extensions have enabled us to broaden this with the development of the Lodge. The Lodge caters for 46 residents in large private rooms with en-suites. The Lodge is for people who need a bit of assistance with daily needs such as showering, medication management, nutrition and socialising.”
Canberra Aged Care Facility comprises of single, single en-suite, two share and two share en-suite style rooms complete with electric beds, nurse call and ducted heating and cooling throughout. There are over one dozen common areas inside and several secure outside areas for residents and families to relax and visit.
While offering a clean and tidy building with excellent hotel services is important and necessary, it is the care and the staff that make it a home.
“Our dedicated team of Registered Nurses care for each resident 24 hours a day with the the help of our assistants in nursing. Whether it be the nurses on the floor or the hospitality staff at the back of house, it is these people that give personality to our building and make it the home it is,” Mr Hutchinson said.
Life at Canberra Aged Care is a fully catered experience where all care, food and beverage, laundry, entertainment and as many outings as possible are provided.
“While we can look after most care needs, we cannot do it alone. We have a team of allied health professionals like podiatrists, physiotherapists, and support from many leading aged care groups but most importantly we need the assistance of the family and friends of our residents,” Mr Hutchinson said.
“These are the people who know their loved ones the best and can give us the best insight into their care. All information can lead to better outcomes and a much more concentrated approach to person centred care.
“We are currently taking enquiry for both high and low care accommodation that would perfectly suit either a fully supported or self-funded person.”
