Binalong
Sad news of the death last week of one of Binalong's best known and oldest residents, Catherina Kuster, who passed away in Gwen Warmington Lodge at the age of 93. Catherina came here in the 1950s from Holland with her husband Theo to work with the Brown family. Catherina fought hard 10 years ago to survive lymphoma. Theo died a few years ago and it was difficult for her to live alone a little out of town so the decision was made to become a resident in Warmington Lodge. Rest well Catherina. Her funeral is expected to be next week. We extend our sympathy to Ingrid and Paul and the grandchildren who adored their Oma.

Gunning
Oolong Creek, Dalton has the newest find of a population of endangered Southern Pygmy Perch, one of only four in NSW. The New Dalton Progress Association, Greening Australia and Gunning District Landcare are attempting to restore the creek back to its natural habitat in an effort to save the fish. At this annual event, the town gets together to replant a creek section. There were over 20 volunteers this year planting 120 species of grass and 20 shrubs.
