The celebration of the 25th anniversary (on September 30, 2017) of the opening of Horton House was very well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

There was a lovely mix of residents, past and present family members, staff, board members and community members with links to the facilities.

On behalf of Michael Walker, Yass Valley Aged Care (YVAC) board president, Tony Reeves (vice president) thanked all those who have been involved in supporting Horton House during the past 25 yrs.

He also delivered a congratulatory letter from Ginny Hewlett, long-serving board member and past president, who was unable to attend.

Mr Reeves also acknowledged and thanked deputy mayor, Kim Turner, who attended.

Tony Parker, who’s involvement with Horton House commenced in 1982 with the initial bequest by Elsie Horton for the establishment of a nursing home in Yass, provided a fabulous trip down memory lane.

He recounted some of the major historical milestones of Horton House and Warmington Lodge.

The original management team of Penny Temple, Sue Ponton and Lyn Morgan caught up over a champagne.

The event provided an opportunity to reminisce and laugh over old photos and stories.

It was also a chance to contemplate the next milestone for Horton House – its refurbishment.

CEO Lyn Morgan thanked all those who helped in making the day so enjoyable.
