She said that: “While most councillors do the right thing, for a small minority it is all about them instead of what is in the community’s best interests. We are determined to weed out councillors misusing their public office.”
Well, my advice to Ms Upton is that she and her government should put their own house in order before telling other people how to behave properly. If she is fair dinkum the Model Code of Conduct should also be applicable to all her parliamentary colleagues, including herself. I, for one, do not want people who deliberately lie to the public representing me in parliament.
Our new Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has informed our Gundagai Council in Exile (GCIE) that she will be ignoring the wishes of the vast majority of the residents of Cootamundra and Gundagai who want the two councils de-merged.
The fact that our citizens don’t want to be part of any forced council merger is illustrated by the 43 per cent swing against the Nationals in Gundagai.
What our successful, democratically elected Gundagai councils have achieved, collectively, over the past 90 years or so, let no lying, deceitful and arrogant government tear asunder.
