The tradition, which started in 2015 on International Tree Planting Day, involves each student back filling the hole with dirt.
As well, a mosaic plaque created by Tristian Penfold – one of the students – was installed at the base of the tree.
The plaque reads: “Yr 6 at 2017”.
Teacher and facilitator Lisa Marple, who chose the artwork, said she played the role of guardian and allowed the students to develop their own ideas.
The school hopes the annual tree-planting ritual continues for a long time.
