The amount was raised from YVMS’s exercise classes, where each participant donates $5 per class in which it goes into YVMS’s ‘good deeds’ account.
The classes – opened to anyone – improve members’ holistic health, including flexibility and mental well-being.
Linda Scarlett at the Salvation Army thanked Mr McGuigan and said the funding would help the store and the community in general.
“It will definitely help the whole shop. As well, it’ll go to helping families out with hampers and toys for Christmas,” Ms Scarlett said.
Similarly, Michael Van Wanroy from St Vincent de Paul said their annual Christmas appeal was boosted by this donation.
“We hoped to raise enough funds for 40 to 45 Christmas hampers and this generous donation from the men’s shed has gone a long to way to achieving that,” Mr Van Wanroy said.
