The driver was unharmed and made the call to 000, reporting the truck as completely engulfed by flames, NSW Rural Fire Service District Officer, based at the Harden Fire Control Centre, Trevor Reeves said.
The fire started inside of the truck, which was carrying a mixed load, including tyres, Officer Reeves said.
It took around an hour for firefighters to contain the fire and a further three hours to extinguish the fire by NSW Rural Fire Service brigades from Jugiong, Coolac, Berremangra and Cooneys Creek, plus Fire and Rescue NSW Gundagai.
The fire was handed over to Fire and Rescue as a HAZMAT (hazardous materials) issue, due to remaining diesel in the truck’s tanks.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
