The inaugural Catch a Carp competition went off without a hitch at the weekend, with hundreds turning out to wet a line.

Around 230 people registered to fish on Saturday and around 240 carp were caught. It equated to 300 kilograms of feral fish.
Soldiers Club Fishing Club member Rob Pollack was overjoyed with the turn-out and said the day went smoothly.
“We were really happy with everything,” he told the Tribune.
“People came from Canberra, Young, Bowning, Bookham, Yass, they came from all over the place so it was a great turn out.”
Member for Burrinjuck and Minister for the Department of Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson was on hand to present the prizes which together had a value of around $2500.

Heaviest carp female: Emmy Bush
Unluckiest fishing person: Andy Bush
Lucky registration: Phil Henderson.

Most carp caught: Josh Lawrence.
