The fire, started by a ride-on lawnmower, burnt out a paddock in the area south of Murrumbateman known as the Jiparu Estate.
Some of the photos are courtesy of Debbie Raadts, who's husband is an ACT fireman and, as they live nearby, was first on the scene.
The fire was attended by about a dozen fire trucks, including from Yass River and Murrumbateman. Although at one point it looked like the fire might get away, the crews soon contained it.
Local residents are advised not to operate machinery, including lawnmowers, on hot, windy days.
