Here is how Scott Spits saw the key moments from yesterday's play. For a full re-cap, click here.
For the second day in a row Australia goes to stumps with its tail in the air. The Aussies hold the ascendancy at the end of day two in Hobart with four Sri Lanka wickets already snapped up after Michael Clarke's bold declaration at 5-450. That decision has already paid off. Generously. Australia overcame the early loss of Clarke (74) this morning to still build a large first innings total. At stumps, Sri Lanka is 4-87 (Dilshan 50 not out).
In a day affected by a lengthy rain delay, it still featured the following highlights and key moments:
- Michael Hussey posting his 19th Test century, along with an excellent partnership with Matthew Wade
- Hussey was given a chance on 96 when his pull shot was dropped on the boundary by Angelo Mathews and the spilled to the rope for the Australian's century
- Michael Clarke declared Australia's innings closed at 5-450, giving the hosts at least 30 overs to bowl at Sri Lanka before stumps
- Australia's bowlers did the right thing by Clarke in taking one wicket each, including Siddle snapping up the key wicket of Sangakkara, leaving the visitors precariously placed at 2-42. Lyon took a late wicket to close the day
This concludes our live blog coverage for day two in Hobart. Steve Samuelson will be in the commentary chair on Sunday to take you through all the day three action.
Wu are you? Andrew Wu with a weather update from Hobart "It's cool and overcast in Hobart but we're on track for a 10am start. Forecast is for some showers today but if we do get any rain it shouldn't be as heavy as yesterday's. Here's hoping"
Sounds promising.
