Murray cod: (open season) The weather has not been kind over the last week with the hot temperatures keeping not only the fishermen but the campers away. Reports of cod have been down as has the size of the fish being caught. Trolling hard bodies and trolling or casting spinner baits has been the most successful.
Yellow belly: I am hearing good reports from further up river, from Narren Gullen Island up to Good Hope. Bait fisherman are bagging out in one hour. Worms have come back into favour as their preferred food. There are a lot of shrimp being caught down the lower end of the dam.
Redfin: Captures have picked up. Fish are being picked up on both bait and lures. Surface poppers worked for the Faram brothers during the week at Carrolls Creek, picking up several small fish.
Carp: Taking lures but not as frequent as they were. Heaps being caught on the usual bait of worms or corn.
Park news: Steve at the shop has organised Clint and Julianne Creighten to provide some live music on Sunday afternoon. They will be set up at the kiosk.
The yellow belly championships are on again at the end of February and will be based here at the park. We only have a couple of cottages left for the weekend so you need to act quickly if you want one.
Park updates and info on the fires, etc, are posted on the Burrinjuck Waters State Park Facebook page.
