Fire and Rescue NSW was called to the scene just after midnight and it was well alight by the time they arrived.
Fire captain Allan Carey said the fire was put out by two pumpers and 11 firefighters, and the assistance of the Rural Fire Service.
“It appears there was no one home. We did a search and couldn’t find anyone,” captain Carey said.
He said the team had the fire out by around 5am, and were on the scene until 6.30am to ensure the house was completely extinguished.
“It’s a mess,” he said about the damage caused by the fire. “It’s not completely destroyed but there was a lot of damage.”
He said it was likely the house would have to be demolished due to the extensive damage.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
The residents, who were on holidays at the time, and the owner of the rental property, were informed of the fire later this morning.
