Stephen has already lost his beard after reaching $300.
We love a good fundraising cause at the Tribune, so when Stephen Meli got in touch and told us he’s doing something drastic to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation, we thought ‘Let’s help!’.
Stephen is a local bloke with some very long locks who has decided to shave them off as part of Be Brave and Shave.
So far, unfortunately, funds have not been pouring in. So we’re hoping to give the cause a boost.
Stephen says:
“Being a lover of all music that is metal, I have been growing my hair for about three and a half years. I was thinking, ‘It's time for a hair cut soon...’ Then I had the idea, why not cut off all my hair for a great purpose? So, now here I am, hoping to reach my goal of raising $500 for the Luekaemia Foundation.
“Any donation no matter the size would be greatly appreciated, so I thank you in advance if you do decide to donate anything for this amazing cause.”
World's Greatest Shave raises about half the money the Leukaemia Foundation needs to fund its important work - providing practical and emotional support to people with blood cancer, as well as investing millions in research.
In the last 14 years over a million people have shaved or coloured their hair, raising more than $138 million.
Stephen says he’ll shave off all his hair and his beard when he reaches the $500 goal. So come on Yass, let’s get behind Steve – and see what’s behind all that hair!
He’s even prepared to do the shave in public, so we’re looking for ideas. Suggestions welcome.
The Trib has kicked things off with a $50 donation. Now, it’s over to you. Perhaps, if enough people donate, Steve can smash his $500 goal.
