Gundaroo were up against the Aussie Horns on Saturday and at no stage did it look to be a close match. The Horns won the toss and batted at Gundaroo Oval, but they could only manage a lowly 88 before they were all out. Eric Dunlop was deadly with the ball in hand, claiming four wickets for Gundaroo and in doing so put himself on a hat-trick for next week’s match against Murrumbateman 2.

Gundaroo went about destroying the Horns bowling in response and chased down the total in the 18th over. Zac Zawalski starred for the home-side smashing 30 not out.

Captain Scott Harding is pleased with how his side is performing and said the Gunners have a real chance of taking this season’s Sweeney Cup.

“I’m happy with how the team is. Our bowling combinations are going well, we are batting strongly.”

On Saturday Gundaroo will be hosting a Pink Stumps day when the side plays host to Murrumbateman 2. There will be drinks served, a sausage sizzle, a jumping castle and there will also be a bat signed by the Prime Minister’s XI team. All are welcome and all are encouraged to wear pink.

Dalton registered a much-needed victory on Saturday edging a gallant Murrumbateman 1 side in Murrumbateman.

The Dingoes batted first and posted an imposing 236 for the loss of nine wickets off their 40 overs. Nathan Apps scored a quick-fire 52 and Troy Pye and debutant Marty Smith made 46 and 42 respectively. For Murrumbateman Jarrad Forlonge was the chief wicket-taker.

The home-side was stubborn in its run chase and ultimately fell just 16 runs short, making 220.

Dingoes captain Michael Poidevin said it was pleasing to get the win, and that the highlight was not one individual effort, but the performance of four youngsters.

“Marty Smith, Jake Poidevin, Dylan Hanson and Bailey Maher all filled in and did everything asked of them. They played extremely well.”

In the final Sweeney Cup match of the round Bookham was able to beat Murrumbateman 1.

Bookham won the toss and elected to bat and were able to amass 230 for the loss of eight wickets.

Duncan Bennett-Burleigh opened the batting and was not out for 55 runs at the completion of the 40 overs. Brad Hazell scored 56 runs and youngster Travis Pigram made 31 not out.

Murrumbateman were gritty in their run chase but were all out for 202 in the 35th over. Josh Robertson dominated with the ball taking five wickets for the Bulls.

Along with the Gunners and the Bulls, the Horns and the Golf Club are in the top four. On Saturday the Horns play the Bulls at John Allen Oval. Gundaroo Gunners play Murrumbateman 2 at Gundaroo and the Dingoes play the Golf Club Taipans in Dalton.
