Benjamin Cheal, of Holt, died in surgery in Canberra Hospital soon after he was airlifted from the wreckage.
The 58-year-old female driver he was with remains in a serious but stable condition at the Canberra Hospital.
A 27-year-old Murrumbateman driver of the other vehicle is also in Canberra Hospital in a stable condition with injuries to his knee.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police are still seeking information from the public regarding the fatal crash on the Barton last week.
