The Music Club expressed its appreciation to Brian with the support of his wife, Nancy, for his sterling administration over the past four years and welcomed Peter Crisp, together with Ann Holmes and John Whiteley as Vice Presidents. Brian Millett is continuing as Secretary and Edgar Mongan as Treasurer, and Brian Millett and John Whiteley will be Music Directors. The remaining members of the Committee are Katherine Cameron, Peg Keogh, Peter Jones, Ros Whiteley, Jennie Rothwell, Alfred McCarthy and it was resolved that Ian Wearing would also be invited to join the Committee. Our Patrons remain as Alice Giles, Peter, Helen and Sandy Crisp and A. Prof. Robin Woods AM.
There was a sad note, however, as the death of Life Member Elizabeth Shannon was acknowledged, and her support of the Music Club over the years was duly recorded with great appreciation and the Music Club's condolences were communicated to her family.
It was also resolved that after 62 years, the Music Club would become Incorporated and adopt its own Constitution and a special meeting was called for May 28 to confirm this action. This meeting was duly held and Incorporation was confirmed and a Music Club Constitution was also formally adopted.
The Members were fully informed of this process and supported the implementation of these procedures.
This Act of Incorporation and the adoption of a Constitution will give the Music Club a certain stability and security for the future.
The Music Club also reminds you that its next concert 'Time Stands Still' will be presented in the Memorial Hall on Sunday, June 14 at 2pm by Bush Baroque and they'll be playing ravishing Elizabethan music from John Dowland and Anthony Holborne to give us a superb afternoon of entertainment.
A great afternoon tea will be provided by the Hospital Auxiliary and tickets will be available at the door and the Hall will be comfortably warmed for the occasion.
