Heavier weights were in reasonable numbers and there were several pens of light weights under 200kg. Steers were well supplied with around 1,600 penned. The quality did slip as the lighter cattle came through. There were a good number of buyers coming from Moss Vale, Goulburn, Wagga, Blayney Young. The market was strong throughout and equal to other weaner sales so far this year.

Light weaner steers made to $965/head, but most of the light weights averaged around 440c/kg. Medium weights sold from $790 to $1,020/head with the average range from 380c to 410c/kg. Heavy weaners ranged from $1,060 to $1,220/head averaging 360c to 380c/kg. 

There was only a slight increase in numbers and the quality still remained plain with only the odd exception on Thursday, March 16. Yearlings were best supplied and the feeders were active on most but very strong on medium weight heifers. Trade cattle were in very short supply. There were a few good pens of grown heifers and grown steers were back both in quality and numbers. Around 250 cows were offered. Not all the usual buyers operated and there were a few more re-stockers going in a dearer market.

Lamb numbers eased slightly and the quality was only plain to fair on Wednesday, March 15. The few good pens of trade and heavy lambs sold to a dearer trend while the bulk of the trade lambs were lacking finish and pulled the average back. Light store lambs were in reduced numbers and there were no large drafts. Most of the lambs were older with a few lots starting to be old as lambs and hoggets.
