It was great to see all the teams in their 2017 uniforms for the home opener of the season! The kids looked very suave. Thanks to all the mums, aunties and grandmothers who took time out of mother’s day to watch us play.

U6’s White
The Kaveney’s Under 6’s played Gungahlin – Yellow at Walker Park last Sunday. The Gungahlin team were a little bigger than last week’s team, but it didn’t seem to worry the Whites very much, they still tackled very well individually and as a team.
U6’s Black
The U6 Black team showed off their skills and teamwork once again with a convincing win over the Gungahlin Bulls White side. Some strong tackling skills and good defence saw the kids finish up The game finished up 28-8 to Yass.
U6’s Grey
The kids braved a crisp Yass morning for their first home game of the season. It was a strong and cheerful game from the kids who went down by just one try.
U7’s
The mighty Under 7’s played the North Canberra Bears on a chilly Yass morning. The team worked very well together in attack with some great hard running and great ball passing between each other.
U8’s
The Under 8’s took on the Gungahlin Bulls Black team for a second week in a row and came away with a 36 – 8 win against an improved Bulls side.
U9’s
The Magpies took on the Gungahlin Bulls on Sunday in a hard game.
The Magpies put in a great effort with Mitchell Blundell scoring a try and Max Buser making the conversion. The kids gave it their all but were beaten 44-6.
U10’s
The Tanks Bakery U10’s played the Valley Dragon Red team last Sunday.
Highlight this week was the team work in attack and the terrier like defence from marker that has added a huge weapon to the team’s defence.
U11’s
The Under 11’s played the Queanbeyan Blues team and while they were defeated, the team showed a whole hearted defensive effort which if they keep up, duplicating a win will not be far away.
U12’s
The Under 12’s team played their first home game of the season last weekend against the Cooma Colts. Strong attacks from the outset saw Yass up 10-0 going into the game, however in the second half Cooma put three tries on the board to come away with the win.
U14’s
The U14’s had an apprehensive start at home on Sunday against another of 2016 Div 1 Grand Finalists, Valley Dragons. A slow start from Yass saw the Dragons take an early lead, but the team bounced back at half time, finishing at 48-6 to the Dragons.
Under 15’s
The Under 15’s travelled to Northbourne Oval to play against Crookwell. A depleted Yass side saw the team lose to the larger Crookwell, with a final score 30-0. Congrats to Riley Timmer who celebrated his 100th game with the mighty Magpies.
Under 16’s
The Hi-Way Motor Inn under 16’s played their first home game of the season on Friday night. The boys bounced back to the winners’ circle by defeating West Belconnen 34-8.
Under 17’s Girls
The under 17’s Girls had their first home game and what a game it was. Coming up strong winners with a score of 50-0.
