“Again the girls pulled it together for another gold placing,” coach and founder of Yass Gymnastics, Michelle Vitler, said.
The latest gold achievement came after the team scored nine silver and five bronze medals at the 2017 Country Championships in Newcastle on July 6–10.
Eighteen gymnasts travelled north for the event: 14 competed in the Women's Artistic Gymnastics, which included three sessions on the first day; and 12 competed on the last day in the ‘team gym’ event.
Vitler said it was the club’s first participation in the championships. “I’m very excited to say that all the hard work and training prior to this competition really paid off. So very proud of their efforts, we can't wait for next year,” she said.
“I would like to thank Brianna and Isobel for putting in a 10-hour day to coach our WAG gymnasts. I couldn't have done it without them.”
Vitler also congratulated the club’s team gym group.
“Our first team gym competition and they received a gold medal, the only team to be awarded that result. Better still, they qualified to compete at State in November,” she said.
