These annual aerial patrols, expected to be conducted over the next month, will assess the TransGrid towers and powerlines, vegetation enroachments and maintenance issues.
About 12,900 km of transmission lines and infrastructure is expected to be inspected.
“These annual safety inspections are an important part of our comprehensive maintenance program to ensure the transmission network is safe for the community and our staff,” TransGrid Manager Customers and Stakeholders Zoe Allebone said.
“Residents across the region may see low-flying helicopters moving along our transmission lines.”
The inspections will begin on August 14, and will make journeys to the surrounding region from August 18-24.
