The kids were divided into four groups and listened to employees at the cottage illustrate what life would have been like for Hamilton Hume. 

The tour included a history lesson on Hume’s trip to Melbourne (including what he would have eaten and worn), education on the flora available in the 19^th century, descriptions of day-to-day life around the cottage, and the children were even allowed to pat the gargantuan Clydesdales which work on the property.
