Berinba takes Cooma class

Children from Berinba Public School enjoyed a treat today, when they took a field trip to Cooma Cottage.

The kids were divided into four groups and listened to employees at the cottage illustrate what life would have been like for Hamilton Hume.

The tour included a history lesson on Hume’s trip to Melbourne (including what he would have eaten and worn), education on the flora available in the 19th century, descriptions of day-to-day life around the cottage, and the children were even allowed to pat the gargantuan Clydesdales which work on the property.
