It was an unlucky result for sprint car driver Brendan Scorgie in round one of the NSW Ultimate Sprintcar Championship (USC) at Valvoline Raceway, Sydney, on September 30 after he was disqualified for a mechanical defect.
It came after he began on the front row during the B race where managed to jump into the lead to around the halfway mark before receiving a yellow light for the defect.
“Pretty disappointing as we were looking at a start in the big dance first night out,” Scorgie said.
Despite the result, he said he was “pretty happy overall with the car speed and what we have going on in our small team”.
Earlier in the night, he qualified 10th in flight two.
“Pretty happy with it considering the list of drivers inside the top 10,” he said. He finished in sixth, just missing the direct transfer to the A race.
“Big thanks to Dwayne Lawrence who is on board with me this season along with Jay Waugh,” he said.
