Mr Doyle said they provided high levels of support and expertise during his 10 years as president.

“It is appropriate to acknowledge the dedication of vice president Gillian Storey who is not standing for election at this year’s AGM.

“Gillian has given generously of her time, which is subject to considerable demand from her family and other community organisations,” Mr Doyle said.

“Her forthright, considered, intelligent and politely expressed opinions will be missed. We wish her well with her other endeavours.”

Liz Darmody who retired as secretary was also thanked for “giving her time and talents while competently managing a somewhat challenging position”.

She will be succeeded by Mark McRae OAM who has had a distinguished career with the Commonwealth and ACT parliaments.

“I would also like to sincerely thank committee members for thier assistance and cooperation not only for the past year but the past 10 years,” Mr Doyle said.

Total net assets of the Yass Aged Care Foundation (YACF) increased from $4,864,635 as at June 30, 2016 to $5,313,561 as at June 30, 2017 – thanks largely to a bequest slightly in excess of $4m from the late Ron Clarke and astute investing under the guidance of Lee Scott of Macquarie Private Wealth.

Income from dividends, distributions, interest and franking credits amounted to $301,767.

$196,000 has been distributed to YACF and $28,313 of expenses paid, leaving $76,534 for reinvestment.

Financial records also show that the Yass community contributed $973,100 to the Warmington Lodge fundraising project.

“Financial records have again been expertly and efficiently provided by treasurer Tony Parker and vice president Alfred McCarthy – both of whom contribute to the foundation issues far beyond that required by their official positions,” Mr Doyle said.

“It has been a great privilege to be president and to work with all of you in an organisation instrumental in providing quality healthcare in the Yass region,” Mr Doyle said.

Katie Walker is expected to be the incoming president.
