With so many things to see and do, the history and heritage buffs of the world love our connection to early rural Australia which can be experienced at many of our museums, historical sites and antique centres.
Now we’ve come up with a great new way visitors can experience this aspect of our region by introducing the Yass Valley Heritage Highlights Tour.
This half day tour offers groups a visit to the Yass Railway Museum, heritage listed Cooma Cottage, and the Yass and District Museum.
Tour participants also have lunch at the Soldiers Club and time to browse the shopping precinct of Yass.
Along with showcasing some of the region’s best heritage sites, the tour is aimed at driving more mid-week visitors to Yass Valley with a focus on the volunteer run heritage attractions in town.
Key to the tour is a return visit voucher encouraging participants to revisit with family and friends.
Earlier this month the first tour took place with 35 participants from the Macquarie and Jamieson (ACT) Probus Club.
“Rural towns like Yass have such diverse history and we couldn’t wait to learn about and explore the gorgeous town,” said Probus Group Coordinator, Irene.
Our historical sites are truly worth a visit if you’ve never been before, or if you want to refresh your knowledge on just how much has happened in this area, and where we’ve come from.
Contact the team at the Yass Valley Information Centre if you are interested in booking your own Yass Valley Heritage Highlights Tour (minimum group size 20).
