Weatherzone has forecast a maximum of 39–41 degrees Celsius for the three days.
“Last weekend, we had three matches abandoned due to wet weather, but this weekend we're at the other extreme of the weather spectrum - with a maximum of 39 degrees forecast,” YDCA president Paul Barnes said.
While YDCA does not currently have a specific heatwave policy in its association handbook, it would follow the guidance from Cricket NSW below:
- If the forecast temperature at 4pm on the day prior to play is 45 degrees or more, a decision shall be made whether to cancel the day's play.
- If the “feels like” temperature exceeds 37 degrees at the start of the match, additional drinks breaks shall be taken.
- If the “feels like” temperature exceeds 43 degrees during the match, play shall cease until the “feels like” temperature drops to 43 degrees or below.
“We trust all of our captains to manage very hot conditions, and this is guidance to help you make decisions on the day,” Barnes said.
