That respite is fast ending. The next NSW state election will be held in March next year, and the time has come for all of us to consider the state of our state, and decide which party offers the best plan.
Our electorate, Goulburn, will be a critical seat. Whoever forms government will have to win Goulburn to gain a majority.
We can expect many visits to our community by politicians of various stripes over the coming months, some bringing promises, all looking for your support for their cause. As this happens, its important for all us to apply rigorous scrutiny to these visitors and the promises they bring.
Labor is ready to face this scrutiny.
Here in this seat, our campaign team is being put together, and a package of local commitments and projects is being costed and finalised through the expenditure review process of the shadow Cabinet.
Several of our local members have expressed an interest in putting themselves forward as our candidate, and a pre-selection vote will be held to elect the best among them.
More importantly, Labor has a vision for NSW which stretches far beyond Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong.
We know that our regions need better infrastructure, better schools, and a better deal. The present government has had six years and three premiers to give our community a better deal. It hasn’t happened yet.
