My favorite shots are of the wreath on the Wee Jasper Bridge, the men wearing medals standing next to their utes and the bagpipers playing a Welsh lullaby while everyone caught their breath after marching up the hill.
John Amos led the order of service by welcoming and addressing the crowd about the significance of the battle for Villers Bretonneux.
Students of Wee Jasper Public School read WWI poetry that reflected on a soldier’s life.
They included ‘Leaving for the Front’ by Alfred Lichtenstein, read by Dougal Cathles, and ‘The Farmer Remembers the Somme’ by Vance Palmer, read by Lochlan Houssenioge.
Following that, Colin Webeck addressed the crowd about the Australian Flying Corps and the Anzac Link.
Geof Kell sang a song followed by wreath laying and flower tributes by the community, school and Yass Valley Council.
A minute silence, reveille and flag raising, and the national anthem concluded the Wee Jasper 2018 Anzac Day commemorative services.
