Once it was all sorted, I thought to myself about the way that these people immediately offered their assistance and what a good quality this is. It also made me think about the ‘No Innocent Bystanders’ campaign related to domestic violence and how important it is that people take action and help others in need.

Australian Bureau of Statistics figures indicate that one in three Australian women have experienced physical and/or sexual abuse by someone known to them.

The NSW Police Force is committed to investigating and prosecuting domestic violence offences and this campaign plays a critical role in sending the message that domestic and family violence is a crime and unacceptable in our society. It doesn’t mean that we are asking people to put themselves at risk, but we need people to stand together as a community and say that we will not tolerate this behaviour and have an understanding that there is something that you can do.

The campaign aims to highlight the serious realities of domestic violence while demonstrating how members of the community can take action to report incidents anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

Thanks to the gentleman who assisted me recently and to the lady who was willing to get out and lend a helping hand. It’s this care for one another that makes our community great and ensures that we will stand up and take action when people do the wrong thing.
