Renovations to the Meehan Street eatery took “about six weeks longer than we had intended,” Mr Green told the Trib, resulting in a 10-week closure while construction challenges were overcome.

He said he and wife Belle had long planned for a cafe “remake, and when the opportunity to take over next door happened, we decided to go for it. We decided to go big.” The Greens invited all their staff, “everyone who’s been involved in the business the past 10 years,” to have input to the redesign.

The premises are noticeably bigger and brighter, thanks in part to a picture window that presently looks into a car park, “soon to be a courtyard, out the back”. The menu has expanded to include breakfast items, and a new line of Brown Cow biscuits from Canberra, as well as fresh pies and sausage rolls daily. And most importantly, is the coffee still the same? “Yeah!” Mr Green said. “Everybody has come back for the coffee, which is really reassuring.”
