Given the damp conditions on Saturday June 9, regulars Matt Townsend and Cr Mike Reid wisely warmed their hands under the freestanding brazier, while ‘The Three Marketeers’ (well, two of them, anyway) kept the chill away with non-stop renditions of 1960s music.

Over at the Pastor’s Pleasures stall, former chef Rob Provan and wife Kerrie Provan said they began their business about eight years ago, when they found the condiments at their rectory restaurant in Murrumburrah “always did well” with diners.

Beth Reid, who celebrates 50 years of wedded bliss with husband Mike this year, said she set up ‘Beth Garden Delights’ about six years ago after a lifetime of jam-making.

Mulled wine was the drop of the day for Dennis Hart of Dog Trap Vineyard in Marchmont, who kindly shared a tipple with neighbouring stallholder Rose Geus from La Barre olive oils in Yass.

Ian McGrath of Yass, with a selection of freshly laid eggs, said he’d been a trader at the markets practically since their inception; he’d joined from the second one onwards.

Volunteer firefighters Sally Hancock and Tim Watt were to be found fundraising for the Yass River-Nanima Fire Brigade to expand its shed from three bays to five.

Prizes include a firefighting pump, a Robert Wynton artwork, a case of Helm wines, a horseback excursion, a hamper, and more.
