It’s the largest of its kind in Australia and gives young people a platform where they can share their thoughts, concerns and aspirations.
In 2017, a record number of 24,000 young people participated. This year, we’re hoping to reach more than 30,000 participants nationally by the survey’s closing date on July 31.
So, we’re very keen to hear from as many of Yass’s young people aged 15 to 19 as possible.
It’s so important that young people in areas like Yass take the opportunity to share their thoughts – so that we can better understand and advocate for young people who live in regional, rural and remote areas.
In this year’s survey, we have included some new focus questions so we can delve deeper into issues affecting young people around social media, alcohol and drugs, barriers to employment and how young people feel about their community.
Last year, both nationally and in NSW, we found that the top three issues identified by young people as most important in Australia today were mental health, alcohol and drugs and equity and discrimination, with mental health emerging as the top concern for the first time in the 16-year history of reporting.
