At 3pm on the day, the new roof over the containers and extending back to the existing workshop will be opened and YVMS invites members of the community to attend.
YVMS secretary Wayne Stuart said the roof allowed for more activities.
“From completing projects outside but undercover, social events, all-weather access to the wood store and metal shop,” Mr Stuart said.
“Most importantly, it will considerably improve the conditions in both the shed and the containers now that direct sun will not be on them.”
It is anticipated that temperatures in the containers and in the workshop will be considerably reduced as all of them will not now be directly impacted by the sun.
The cost (in cash and in kind) of the project was $24,366 in which $16,550 was donated by community organisations, businesses and individuals in Yass.
At the opening, there will be afternoon tea provided and all of the very generous donors will be honoured on a large acknowledgement board to be unveiled on the day.

Mr Stuart thanked all who supported.
“The men’s shed is a great asset in the Yass Valley – please come along [to the open day] to see what is happening and enjoy the success that the people of Yass have helped to establish,” Mr Stuart said.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of YVMS, with Mr Stuart saying that “some amazing developments and improvements have been made to provide better facilities, extended opportunities for members and to allow members to express themselves in any way they wish”.
“The Yass shed follows a simple philosophy: we are not a job centre, it is not a retirement home for old blokes and everyone gets to do precisely what they want to do – there is minimal bureaucracy and maximum fun,” he said.
YVMS is at 1428 Yass Valley Way, Yass.
