Harden kicked off and the first five minutes saw penalties going to both sides until the sixth minute, when Devils’ winger Caylon Jackson-Wilkie scored his first try of the season in the Chook Shed corner.
With the scores at 4-0, it only took until the 11th minute for the Devils to score again, with Joe Picker getting straight through a hole and over the line. A successful conversion from Cameron Picker took the score to 10-0.
The 15 minutes that followed was full of "argy-bargy" from both sides until Devils’ Charlie McGeechan went straight through a hole in the Hawks’ defence and offloaded to put Steve Cummins over the line. Once again, a good conversion, which took the score to 16-0.
In the 30th minute, Harden got their first points for the day through a try scored straight out of dummy half that, followed by a successful conversion, put the scores at 16-6.
On the stroke of half time, a brilliant pass from halfback McGeechan saw Jayden Eddy cross the line. When the boys hit the sheds at half time, the scores were 22-6.
The second half didn't start well for the Devils, with two penalties in a row awarded to the Hawks who capitalised, scoring in the 38th minute and converting to put an extra two points on the board.
In the 45th minute, the Devils saw two penalties in a row awarded to them, followed by a Harden player being sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes.
Shortly after, the Devils’ Dion Aromoana scored next to the sticks, with Cameron Picker adding another two points with a successful conversion.
In the 48th minute, the Devils’ Isaac Walker made magic out of a nothing kick, chasing down and regathering the ball which eventually saw Ben Cummins take another 4 points for the Devils. Another successful conversion, meant that the Devils were leading the Hawks 34-12.
There was a lot of 'to and fro' that followed, until Harden scored their third try of the day in the 62nd minute. Conversion was missed; however, the Hawks added another 4 points right on the bell, making the final score 34-20.
The Devils had turned around their average performance from last week against Binalong, where they only just scraped home with the win.
