A lot has changed at the library in the 35 years she’s worked there, and now she’s turning the page of a new chapter of retirement.
Library staff and Yass locals bid a fond farewell to Ms Carmoday on Friday July 20.
A humble woman by nature - wanting to sneak out of the library doors instead of receiving a fancy affair – former library manager and close friend Audrey Dawes spoke on Ms Carmoday’s behalf.
She said, “she was a marvellous worker,” recalling a time she went overseas for three months, leaving the care of the library in Ms Carmoday’s capable hands.
“I didn’t have to worry at all,” Ms Dawes added. “She always did the work of two people, truly.”
Indicative of this was Ms Carmoday’s cheeky response, “Well, I do like things done properly.”
That she certainly will continue to do in her future years filled with relaxation, travel and her favourite fictional books by Australian authors.
