Don’t Get Your Vicars in a Twist – now, that’s good advice and is also the name of the play Yass Repertory is about to stage at the Liberty Theatre.
Claim these dates – August 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31 and September 1 at 8pm sharp. Matinee is August 25 at 2pm.
The play by Ann Gawthorpe and Lesley Brown, in association with David Spicer Productions, is an absolute hoot, set in 1991 when the first female vicar was ordained. It’s a fast-moving farce full of fun, frolics and lots of doors.
Desperate to find funds to pay for his daughter’s wedding, church warden George Williams (actor Greg Seckold) seizes the opportunity to rent out the vicarage while waiting for a new vicar to be appointed. The booking is taken by a touring company, which is set to stage a murder mystery weekend in which a female vicar and a bishop are among the cast of eleven.
Okay, can’t give too much away, but needless to say, chaos reigns supreme and there are laughs galore.
