You will be treated to three very lively presentations on aspects of Yass history by three society members with some intriguing perspectives to share.
“It all starts with a delicious afternoon tea at 3pm,” said Cheryl Mongan, President of YDHS.
Then follows well-known historian Dr Richard Reid’s talk ‘A Hearty Welcome to You as Her Majesty’s Representative’ relating some intriguing aspects around Governor Belmore’s vice regal visit to Yass during the 1800s.
Ms Mongan’s talk ‘Once a Villain? Always a Villain?’ will highlight several lesser known but fascinating early Yass personalities who added to our town’s colourful history.
Historian and archaeologist Peter Bindon, who always has a different perspective, will speak about ‘And the band played on...or did it?’
A delicious buffet dinner will be served around 6.30pm. The afternoon concludes with local musician Daniel Kelly entertaining with songs from his new album Zombie Sheep of the Murrumbidgee and other songs of the Yass Valley.
“These events have been very popular in the past,” said Mongan, “Numbers are limited, so buy your tickets now to avoid disappointment.”
The whole afternoon is just $30 ($25 for society members).
