Among the many people you can go and talk to at the Murrumbateman Field Days is our local member of state parliament, the Liberal Party’s Pru Goward.
Mrs Goward has represented the Murrumbateman region since the 2015 state election when it became part of the Goulburn electorate as a result of the boundaries being redrawn.
Mrs Goward has also made herself available to the public at this event before, so we asked her a few questions about her attendance and the Field Days in general.
It's the 40th anniversary this year. How would you describe the event in your words?
This is the biggest and most diverse Field Days in our region.
So many volunteers and local business have made this more than a farm expo – it’s become a community life expo that promotes the great attractions of life in the Murrumbateman region.

Around 22,000 people and 500 vendors attended last year. What do you think has made this long-standing event the success that it is?
The combination of so many vendors, including food stands, with local displays makes this a must-attend for anyone who wants to live outside a city.
What do you believe this event means to the local community, for various age groups? What affect does the Field Days have on the area?
The Murrumbateman community is extremely proud of its Field Days, and its scale and reputation make it great for local business and fundraiser groups.
Do you have any favourite aspects of the Field Days? Is there something in particular you enjoy seeing or doing there?
I love seeing the new technologies available to small farmers, I love the food stalls, and the art exhibition is a must.
Is there anything you think could be added, or perhaps more of, at future Murrumbateman Field Days?
I’d love to see more local gourmet food stalls serving unique dishes.
