Mayfield Mews owners, Cyril and Debbie Cox, said they already have three interested buyers.
The sale includes two blocks of land. In the middle, is the business and on the right is the four-bedroom, 1857 sandstock brick Mayfield house. Then on the left - the side closer to Bowning Hotel - are the old Bowning Stores rented to the antiques and collectables shop.
Cyril and Debbie originally bought the property in 2013 and opened Mayfield Mews, the cafe, nursery and giftshop in March 2014.
Mayfield house has kept its historical character and also includes two separate living areas, manicured gardens and 12-foot high ceilings.
Both partners in the business have decided it’s time to move on and sell.
They're sad to say goodbye, particularly to their loyal customers, but hope to see the business continue to thrive with new owners.
Cyril and Debbie originally bought the property in 2013 and opened Mayfield Mews, the cafe, nursery and giftshop in March 2014.
Apparently, the property has ties to Henry Lawson and Banjo Patterson.
Before then, Mayfield Mews and the house were an old coach house and stables, built over 150 years before.
Initially, the small gift shop and nursery were opened by the couple and then, as demand for coffee and home cooked food came, they decided to open up the cafe.
The business is regularly frequented by returning visitors; impressive for a business of only a few years old.
Debbie Cox said new owners would be buying a piece of history and, she's not wrong. Apparently, the property has ties to Henry Lawson and Banjo Patterson.
It is said that Henry Lawson’s aunt’s husband built Mayfield house, formerly Albury house and operated Bowning Stores.
Henry Lawson lived at Albury house for some time and several of both his and Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Patterson’ works were written there.
