Members of the public can attend the meeting at Council Chambers, next to the Council Office, 209 Comur St, Yass.
- RU6 Transition zone
This zone advocates for a 5km buffer along the NSW-ACT border to prevent Canberra from sprawling into Yass Valley. The Department of Planning and Environment recently endorsed council’s plans to manage future population growth in the shire under its Settlement Strategy, but not the RU6 zone. It believes the strategy is enough to discourage future development without an RU6. Councillors may debate over whether to accept the department’s advice or continue conversations.
- Planning proposal – 91 East Tallagandra Lane, Sutton
Councillors will vote for or against a proposal to rezone this area of Sutton for residential development. The recommendation is for councillors not to support the proposal, because it exceeds council’s planned growth for the village.
- Renewable Energy Policy
Councillors will be asked to vote for or against placing council’s draft Renewable Energy Policy on public exhibition. The policy opposes further large-scale wind turbines in Yass Valley and outlines criteria for other renewable energy projects to be considered against, such as their impact on local homes.
- Development application – 46 Hillview Dr, Murrumbateman
Councillors will vote for or against the development application for 85 new residential blocks in Murrumbatemen. The recommendation is for councillors to vote against the development, due to the fact it’s inconsistent with the character of the area and village.
- Multi-purpose arts facility
In 2014, council gave in-principle support for a multi-purpose arts facility near Riverbank Park in Yass. Councillors will vote for or against withdrawing their support over concerns raised about the proposal in the last four years. One of those surrounds the need for council to enter into a public-private partnership with the Burrinjuck Foundation to make it possible.
- Yass Skate Park mini ramps murals
Councillors will vote for or against Yass High School painting murals of black silhouettes of skaters on Yass Skate Park. The recommendation is for the initiative.
