Its installation last Monday marked the completion of the first local project run by the Rotary Satellite Club of Yass/Murrumbateman.
The Satellite Club is a branch of the Rotary Club of Yass and was established three years ago to allow members living in the village to give provide support closer to home.
Its members hope the bench is a sign of many more community and even international projects to come in the early part of next year, according to Satellite Club chairperson Karen Agnew.
“In providing the seat in Murrumbateman, we hope that families with young children will relax and enjoy this lovely playground area,” Ms Agnew said.
The money to provide the bench was raised by donations given at the Satellite Club’s monthly BBQ at the Murrumbateman Village Markets.
So, what better way to celebrate the official opening with a barbecue, joined by Yass Valley councillor Mike Reid.
