The 2019 Robertson Show will be held on Friday and Saturday March 8 and 9, and the organisers say that plans are well underway.
“The 2019 show is shaping up to be just as much fun and excitement as our previous shows,” says event secretary Sharon Makin, “and this year we celebrate 50 years of the running of the open potato race, with the running of a commemorative spud relay for those over 50.”
In addition to the commemorative race, “the ever-popular potato races will be on again so start training; only a few weeks left to get in shape.” The races include categories for junior girls, junior boys, ladies and the Australian open championships. This is “Australia’s richest open and women’s potato race,” Sharon said.

“Friday is our quieter day, but for those who attend, you will be impressed by the wonderful sights of the dairy cattle on exhibit and the horse events in the centre ring.”
Friday afternoon will also see a revised sporting program for those that like to see and ride fast moving horses.
“Friday is the first day of the pavilion being open and we look forward to seeing those cakes, flowers, crafts and needleworks start to arrive.”
Plus, “Friday we will again be hosting our school day full of educational experiences and good old fashion kid’s fun, involving many of the local schools in activities such as the RFS spud Olympics, chook washing, and the junior rugby league development team testing out footy skills.”
A copy of the Robertson show passport will be issued to the schools so that children can have fun identifying the various sections at the show.
Saturday shall see a packed program of horse events with showjumping back in the main arena along with the usual fun activities.
“The dog show, will again be packed full of high standard exhibits, so don’t forget to venture beyond the fence and check out the dogs on parade.” Dog agility displays will be on at 2pm with national championship dogs showing off their talents.
“The beef cattle judging and poultry pavilion will be a must see on Saturday as well as our wonderful miniature goats and we will cap off the evening with the ever popular demolition derby and spectacular fireworks display.
“Last year we introduced a Young Farmers Challenge and this will be run once again in the evening to test the skills of our youth. Teams of three attempt four challenges testing their farming skills. The first team to successfully complete all the challenges to the correct standard, will share in $500 prize money and represent Robertson show at the 2019 Sydney Royal Young Farmers Challenge.”
