Jacko’s has been around since 1987 as a pizza operator, and has also served at many parties and events as a mobile caterer for the past 16 years.
“In 2003 I was the first mobile pizza van in the area,” owner and operator Jack McGrath says, and the reason for the transition to this business model came because he “was getting a lot of requests for the service.”
In terms of staffing, it ranges from four people normally up to as many as 14 at the bigger events they cater for.
The staff are there to look after customers while they make fresh pizza on site.
“We are efficient, friendly, honest and reliable,” Jack proudly states.
One aspect that Jack says he has been able to enjoy is “meeting new people” as well as just getting out there to help whenever the van can be put to good use.
One example of that, and of community involvement, is having Jacko’s serving pizza to hungry participants at events in the Springfield Fire Shed, including their Get Ready Weekend awareness nights ahead of the fire season.
Since Jack has been in this industry for 32 years he is now looking at making the transition into retirement.
That means he is “asking for expressions of interest to purchase this well established business.”
