“We have only just begun operation in the Yass, Murrumbateman, and Canberra districts,” says Benjamin Kelly from BITY.
The reason for opening was “Self-motivation. Yass has a few smaller IT businesses but none that specialise in IT security, and the market is growing very quickly. Also, there are no other mobile IT services for this region and due to many of the remote farms around with home IT setups,” they expect there will be high demand.
“We currently have three staff all working from spare time until the business is able to support itself. We have a server/desktop support specialist, administration staff, and a security specialist/technician. We are also uniquely partnered with a removals company from Canberra to assist in IT business relocations.”
The main products and services are “IT repairs including remote services so we can come to you, computer set-ups and custom builds, data recovery, computer clean ups including physical and virtual cleaning, ensuring devices are kid safe, data backup and transfer, operating system installation and repairs, email setups, general troubleshooting, hardware installation and repairs, mobile device setup, wireless network setups, virus and spyware services, web development, software install and setup, [plus] training and computer and network security.”
Also for businesses “we your offer relocation, business rollouts, marketing, networking, web design, security assessments, software solutions and managed IT solutions.”
As said on scamwatch.gov.au, "In 2018 Australians lost $10,297,195 to various digital identity theft methods."
Benjamin says “These are the cyber security incidents we aim to prevent and educate people on. This will make the Yass community safer. Many organisations are encouraging people to consider cybersecurity as an investment, as the dangers for our children continue to grow rapidly.”
He also shared a quote from staysafeonline.org:
"Although it may seem that malware attacks and cyber crime live in the adult world, cyber thieves regularly target children and teens where they’re most active – chat rooms, social media, video streaming sites and online video games. Children are good targets because they may have high levels of trust in people and low levels of knowledge in cyber security.”
Benjamin added, “As these trends continue, BITY will be providing protection.
“Many people are not aware of how to deal with cybersecurity issues. It is important to make sure your data is protected properly.”
BITY is a mobile service based in Yass, NSW.
