But that changed in 1969 when a few blokes got together to form a team in Boorowa to play within the group which featured teams from Grenfell, West Wyalong, Cowra and Young.

One who was most instrumental was Eddie Corcoran when he lived at Corcoran’s Plains, Boorowa.

It was an exciting time and many longterm friendships were born out of those contests.

Such was the commitment from the young men from Boorowa, they fielded two teams through the 1970’s.

Current club president Simon Fleming wants to hear from anyone who played or had a close connection with the Boorowa Rugby Club and welcomes them to the forthcoming reunion to be held on 25 May 2019.

“We are celebrating 50 Years of wholehearted rugby culture,” he said.

“Boorowa has always had a strong community spirit and we are hopeful many of those who played during the formative years will be able to return to Boorowa to remember their playing days.”

The reunion will be held in the new Showground Pavilion at Boorowa immediately the match against West Wyalong is concluded. 

Mr Fleming said the party is expected to start at 3pm and continue as long as ex-players wish to recall the great tries they made or the bone-crushing tackles inflicted upon the opposition. 

He said all players, ex-players, supporters, sponsors and opposition are welcome and if they could send their address to springwatersstud@bigpond.com they will receive an invitation.

The dress code is coat and tie and those intending to participate are encouraged to RSVP by 10 May 2019, either online at www.123tix.com (search Boorowa Rugby Club) as the preferred option or to springwatersstud@bigpond.com.

“If anyone has old photos (or new photos) please send them into us for inclusion in the ’50 Year Book’ and for slideshows on the night,” Mr Fleming said.

“We are also calling on people to send us a 15 second video on themselves telling of a Boorowa Rugby experience.”
