Captain Jim Hutton OBE, RAN has an impressive 40-year military career and has been invited as the guest speaker at this year's main Anzac Day service in Yass.

Captain Hutton was born in Scotland and joined the Royal Navy aged 17. He later became a Royal Marine. He ran the International Assistance Afghanistan Force's (ISAF) daily operations as chief of combined operations in 2008, went onto form the Force Generation Directorate to train maritime task groups, and led the Info-Pacific Endeavour 2018.
The service is organised by the Yass Returned and Services League (RSL) sub-branch. Honorary secretary John Heggart said the sub-branch was honoured and excited that Captain Hutton had made his time available for the service.
The main service will begin at 11am at the Yass Cenotaph in front of the Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall. At the end of the main service, Anzac Day lunch will be served at the Yass Soldiers Club at a cost of $30 per head (book through the club).
The lunch will be followed by two-up, with proceeds going to assist the veteran community in the Yass Valley.
Dawn service
At 5.45am on Anzac Day at the Yass Cenotaph, the dawn service will be followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Yass Soldiers Club for a gold donation that will support Yass/Boorowa Legacy war widows.
The march
At 10.30am, Gallipoli Company RMC-Duntroon, historical military vehicles, the Canberra Celtic Pipe Band, local schools and community groups will march from outside the Club House Hotel to the Yass Cenotaph.
Murrumbateman
A 9.30am service at Jones Park will be followed by morning tea at the Murrumbateman Country Inn.
Gundaroo
A 5.30am dawn service will be held at the war memorial on the corner of Cork and Harp streets.
Sutton
A 5.45am dawn service will be held at Sutton Public School Memorial Gates on Victoria Street.
Binalong
The Anzac Day march will form up at 10.15am outside Binalong Hotel, leaving at 10.30am.
Wee Jasper
The march will form up at 10am on Wee Jasper Bridge and service will commence at the Wee Jasper Memorial Hall following the march.
Bowning
A 5.45am dawn service will be held at Bowning ANZAC Memorial.
