Events are taking place around the world this month to raise awareness and funds for research to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson's.
Parkinson's is a progressive, degenerative condition of the central nervous system. Its cause is unknown.
World Parkinson's Day provides an opportunity to learn more about the issues facing the 37 people who are diagnosed with Parkinson's each day, and the more than 80,000 Australians living with Parkinson's.
Currently, Parkinson's NSW has three specialist Parkinson's neurological nurses working in regional NSW. The organisation's goal is to have another five nurses placed in regional NSW communities by 2022.
