Humans have a basic need for connections and relationships. Belonging to groups and having the company of others is vital to good mental health.
Quality, face-to-face time with other people will boost your mood and ward off feelings of loneliness.
Here are some tips to consider:
- Call a loved one to organise a catch-up and keep your social connections strong.
- Get involved in local events - it's a great way to feel a part of a community.
- Say 'hi' to your neighbour, smile at strangers and keep up with old friends.
- Become a member of a club - it will give you the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and keep mentally agile.
