One person has died following a collision near Gunning on the Hume Highway tonight.

About 5pm on April 23, emergency services attended the accident on the highway, east of Gunning.
The northbound lane was immediately closed and it is likely it will remain closed throughout the night. Southbound lanes have re-opened.
On scene, officers from the Hume Police District were told a northbound prime mover crashed into a B-double, which was broken down in lane one.
The impact caused the prime mover to catch alight. The driver died at the scene and has not been formally identified.
The driver of the broken-down truck was not injured and is speaking with police, who have established a perimeter around the scene.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact police.
Northbound motorists are advised to expect delays.

Live Traffic NSW has updated traffic directions at 6.19pm.
Motorists travelling north towards Goulburn and Sydney are advised by police to come off the Hume Highway at Gunning to avoid the incident.
6.16pm
Up to 20 trucks that were close to the scene of the accident are unable to turn around.
The drivers face an overnight stay as emergency service crews work to clear the site.

Emergency services have advised the northbound lanes will likely be closed all night, with traffic diverted via the Barton and Federal highways.
All southbound lanes of the Hume Highway are now open at Gunning.
Motorists should allow at least an hour extra travel time. Emergency services remain at the crash site and traffic crews are also attending.
It is believed one of the trucks was carrying foam insulated panels; and that the other truck was carrying cement products.

Acting Inspector David Cowell of Yass Police Station has confirmed that there has been one fatality.
No other details have been confirmed.
Two trucks were alight. Currently, one of the vehicles has been fully extinguished and the Rural Fire Services (RFS) is working to extinguish the other.
The drivers of one vehicle has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Emergency services at the scene include NSW Police, RFS, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW.

Early reports suggest that there has been a fatality.
It is believed a truck has collided with another truck travelling ahead of it, and was engulfed in flames. One truck was hauling cement products and the other held foam insulated panels.
Hume Highway closed east of Gunning
Traffic is being diverted due to a truck fire on the Hume Highway east of Gunning.
The highway was closed in both directions at approximately 5pm today, April 23.
Emergency services are attending the scene.
Light vehicles have been advised to use Cullerin Road in both directions between Breadalbane and Gunning.
There is no detour, yet, for heavy vehicles.
Motorists have been urged to follow all directions given by the police.
Hume Highway, Collector Road off-ramp
Motorists are also advised to exercise caution on the highway at the Collector Road off-ramp after a crash involving a vehicle and a horse float.
Currently, northbound traffic only is affected. Live Traffic NSW updated this incident at 4.49pm, a reporter on scene says traffic is still flowing in the southbound lane.
Emergency services and Roads and Maritime Services are at the scene.
