The championships feature four age groups - Under 12s, 14s, 16s, and 18s - and sees junior teams from all over the state turn out to compete.
Association president, Greg Smith, said that the number of selections might be the highest in Yass's history, and could be more with the Under 18s yet to be announced, which he puts down to the increase in numbers in the junior competition.
"We've got a lot more young people on the committee," Smith said.
"Young 20-year-olds like Ben Wylie, Kaitlin Kemp, Callum Kemp have done a lot of work with a lot of other people in their age group.
"They've grown the numbers in the last two years from around 70 kids that we used to have up to about 130.
"It's grown that fast just on their involvement and the way they're doing it. Rather than just picking teams, they're teaching them drills first and playing the game afterwards."
Regardless of their results in the championships, Smith said that the experience would prove beneficial for the kids who take part.
"We're sending more teams away to the Junior State Cups where they're up against the stronger clubs," he said.
"While that might be a bit out of their league then, they do learn a bit more."
Across March 30 and 31, Yass hosted a training camp for the players who had been selected in the Southern Suns teams, as it does every year.
According to Smith, this was another opportunity for Yass's burgeoning touch juniors to engage with some of the most talented players in the state.
The players selected from Yass are:
- Baxter Sicily (U12 Boys, shadow)
- Tim McPhillips (U14 Boys)
- Kaiden Bell (U16 Boys)
- Patrick McPhillips (U16 Boys)
- Ryan Prins (U16 Boys)
- Josh Sykes (U16 Boys)
- Christine Sims (U14 Girls)
The championships will take place in Orange across July 13 and 14.
